October 2012 Demonstration on Branch Development

Members were treated to an entertaining and informative discussion about secondary and tertiary branch development in deciduous trees.  David used several different trees to show how significant secondary branch growth could be achieved in as little as six weeks with judicious pruning.  Add some wiring to create a foliage pad and you are well on your way to a new bonsai - see photos below.

There were also several excellent display trees and included below are a couple of samples.  Members are also reminded that the November meeting is the AGM and it would be appreciated if you could bring a plate of food to help celebrate the end of another successful year.
